Crosslake is a city in Crow Wing County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,141 at the 2010 census. It
is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical
Area. (we like to call it the Brainerd Lakes Area)
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, Crosslake has a total area of 36.89 square miles,
of which 25.74 square miles is land and 11.15 (a little over 30%) square miles is
water.
History
Crosslake was incorporated in 1959, and has had a
post office since 1894. In 1972 it absorbed North Cross Lake, Minnesota. The Crosslake Dam, located on
the Pine River next to the Army Corp of Engineers Campground, creates the Whitefish Chain of Lakes, with 14 lakes and over 14,000 acres of water to explore.
Demographics
2010 census
As of the census of
2010, there were 2,141 people, 1,027 households, and 651 families residing in
the city. The population density was 83.2 inhabitants per
square mile. There were 2,799 housing units at an average density of 108.7 per
square mile.
