Woman Lake Chain
The Woman Lake Chain is located between Longville and Hackensack and encompasses 5496 acres of some of the best water in northern Minnesota. The chain is comprised of 4 different lakes, including Child, Girl, Little Woman, and Woman, and they are all connected by the Boy River. There is also a large bay called Broadwater Bay, which some people consider a lake within itself. Each Lake offers something different, and all lakes are accessible by boat. The Woman Lake Chain is a world class fishery for those looking to pursue a variety of fish. Fishing is good all year long with a wide variety of species available. Walleye is the most popular fish caught on the chain, but Muskie, Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Sunfish, Crappie and Perch are also abundant. Between 2004 and 2013, the Minnesota DNR stocked the Woman Lake Chain with 49,653,453 Walleye Fry (Newly hatched fish that are ready to be stocked usually called "swim-ups". Walleye fry are 1/3 of an inch long.) If you’re wondering how much 49,653,453 Walleye fry weigh, that answer would be…well, you can either figure it out yourself, or check back here on Monday to find the answer. If you want to take a guess in the comments, feel free to do so…just be prepared to show your work!
