Jill's Horse Tale

It was 1972, and for my birthday in September, my best wish in the whole wide world came true. My parents bought Hombre', my first horse! I had been leasing him for the summer at a local dude ranch, but was heartbroken to see the summer end and the lease run out. My parents knew I wouldn't and couldn't live without him, so they bought him for me. With his purchase, there was no money to buy a saddle, so I just rode bareback. Clothes got dirtier, behinds got sore, and it was more difficult to get on him from just anywhere.

Christmas came and under the tree was the most comfortable padded green bareback pad I had ever seen! It even had stirrups!! I wanted to try it out so bad, but it was Christmas, and no one was driving me to the stables that day. So my Dad got down on his hands and knees and was my "horse" all around the family room. Best Christmas ever, and the bareback pad was great too!
